If you're a fan of the rapid prototyping possibilities provided via 3D Printing, you'll love Laser Cutting. While more expensive, the possibilities are vast & the manufacturing process is much faster. Finished product is typically hardier & looks nicer. Laser Cutting is similar to CNC Machining in that you're frequently working with a sheet of raw product & progressively remove material. Given the precision of the average laser cutter, products are often designed to stay together merely via friction.
While I've had a fair amount of time working with laser cutters, I am no expert, yet. Looking forward to using these machines more & more in the future...
